History of the Directory

The Multicultural Aged Care Services Directory (the Directory) was first developed by ECCV as a printed resource, with funding from the Victorian Department of Health (then Department of Human Services). The first printed Directory was published in 1997.

Continuous support from the Department enabled ECCV to produce two subsequent printed editions of the Directory, with the most recent printed in 2009. The Directory is an important and popular resource in Victoria. Since publication, more than 400 copies of the most recent Directory have been distributed. The printed Directory has been requested by providers in local government, health, justice, aged care and broader community service sectors.

ECCV has an extensive database and well-established links with stakeholders that provide current multicultural aged care information. While the previous versions of the Directory were and continue to be well regarded, and seen as a valuable resource by users, in the printed format it quickly became outdated and not as useful as it could be.

In light of this and changing methods of interaction, in 2012 ECCV was funded to develop the Directory as an online resource.
